The proof is in the pudding, as he'll embrace his role as challenger for the first time in a while when facing unbeaten champion Christian Mbilli, headlining Mexico against the World on September 12 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Mbilli, who fought Lester Martinez to a thrilling 10-round split draw on the Canelo-Crawford undercard last September, gets his wish granted after declaring a desire for big-name opponents to legitimize his standing on the world stage.

Canelo knows a tough night awaits him, but isn't bothered by critics again doubting his abilities as a faded champion chasing former glories.
