A new titleholder will be crowned in one of boxing's glamor divisions on Saturday when top-10, Ring-ranked contenders Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi clash for the vacant WBA lightweight belt.
Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) last fought 16 months ago and sensationally stopped former 130-pound titleholder Tevin Farmer inside 80 seconds. The performance was an eye-opener for Schofield, especially since Farmer came in after a pair of nail-biting decision losses to current WBC lightweight champion William Zepeda.
The win allowed Schofield to turn the page after pulling out of a career-defining match with Shakur Stevenson in February 2025, citing an illness during fight week. Prior to plastering Farmer, Schofield's chin was checked by Rene Tellez Giron, but the Austin, Texas native gutted out the win by decision.
Bahdi (20-0, 15 KOs) is looking to do the same against the upstart Schofield, 24, much like the 32-year-old Canadian did by blasting touted prospect Ashton Sylve during a breakout performance in July 2024. Bahdi has since beaten two more fighters with unblemished records (Armando Casamonica; Ryan James Racaza) and is coming off a unanimous-decision win against Roger Gutierrez 14 months ago.
The Ring has Schofield ranked No. 7 in the division and Bahdi eighth. The WBA has Schofield ranked No. 1 and Bahdi second. They'll be battling for a belt previously held by Gervonta Davis, and the winner will be in prime position for a title unification fight against Zepeda or WBO titleholder Abdullah Mason.
They said it
Schofield: "I'm hard to impress. I just don't see anything special about Bahdi. I think the best attribute he possesses is that power and patience. That's pretty much it, but I bring a whole lot to the table, and on Saturday, everybody is going to see that."
Bahdi: "He could say what he wants, but he will be in for a big surprise come Saturday night. I bring a lot to the table, and I don't think he really knows what kind of skill sets I carry. He's going to see the complete version of me, and he's going to be shocked once I start touching him up on Saturday. I absolutely see myself getting a stoppage win, and beating Schofield will put me into a whole other bracket."
Betting odds
Schofield is listed as a -900 betting favorite, and Bahdi is a +550 betting underdog, according to DraftKings.

Must-see fights on the undercard
In the co-main event, WBA and WBC flyweight champion Ricardo Sandoval (27-2, 18 KOs) makes the first defense of his unified titles against Sergio Mendoza (27-1, 23 KOs). Sandoval was originally supposed to face The Ring and unified 105-pound champion Oscar Collazo, but the Ring's No. 10 pound-for-pound fighter pulled out of the pitting last month after a rib injury while training.
In separate fights, a pair of U.S. Olympians in lightweight Jahmal Harvey (4-0, 3 KOs) and heavyweight Joshua Edwards (7-0, 6 KOs) will also be featured.
Edwards will take on Craig Lewis (15-9-1, 8 KOs) in an eight-rounder while Harvey faces Pedro Castaneda (9-1-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-rounder as well.
Other prospects to monitor include Tristan Kalkreuth (17-1, 12 KOs) ,who takes on Ivan Rosado (12-0, 9 KOs) in a 10-round cruiserweight contest, and Grant Flores (13-0, 9 KOs) when he faces Mikey Dahlman (19-2, 17 KOs) in a 10-round middleweight matchup.
