The pair will clash at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) last fought in April when he outpointed Regis Prograis in London, while Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) beat Mario Barrios for the 147-pound strap in February.

Garcia, 28, is The Ring’s No. 6 welterweight and is making his first title defense. Benn, 29, is fighting at welterweight for the first time since his second-round stoppage of Chris Van Heerden in April 2022.

Garcia said he would stop Benn in five rounds or fewer.

The fight didn't even make it out of the second round. Garcia delivered an emphatic performance with his second-round stoppage of Benn.

For all of the talk of Garcia's left hook, it was his right hand that got the job done again. He used Benn's aggression against him and landed a huge right hand right on the button early in the second round.

Garcia didn't let Benn off the hook and closed the show in proper fashion in his first time headlining on Mexican Independence Day weekend.

After the fight, Garcia called for a fight with Teofimo Lopez, who holds the WBA welterweight title. Security keeps Lopez and his father out of the ring. Garcia says they can get crazy if he wants and said he wants to rematch WBO welterweight champion Devin Haney to become the undisputed welterweight champion. Their first fight in April 2024 ended with Garcia's majority decision victory over Haney being overturned after he tested positive for ostarine, a performance-enhancing substance.

Garcia's has shown clear signs of improvement in his last two fights. If he can continue this growth, it's not far-fetched that he could be the last welterweight standing.

We've arrived at the main event. Garcia and Benn will settle their rivalry inside the squared circle shortly.

There's no shortage of question marks and storylines. Which version of Garcia will show up? At his best, his speed and power make him a difficult out for anyone. However, he's shown that he can shell up and shut down after getting hurt in his defeats to Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Rolando "Rolly" Romero.

Benn hasn't been bashful about how difficult the weight cut was for his first fight at welterweight in over four years. He was willing to pay that price in his pursuit to win the same WBC title his father, Nigel Benn, won in his Hall of Fame career.

Will he have enough left in the tank to dethrone Garcia? Or will Garcia take another step in living up to his vast potential? We'll have those answers soon enough.

It was a virtuoso performance for Opetaia, as he became the first man to stop Mikaelian. Opetaia is now The Ring and WBC cruiserweight champion.

Opetaia controlled the bout throughout. With Mikaelian showing clear signs of slowing down, Opetaia landed a barrage of big left and right hands that led to a standing eight count. Afterwards, it appeared that Mikaelian didn't want to continue, and Dock stopped the fight

WBA and WBO cruiserweight champion David Benavidez makes his way into the ring. Benavidez says the fight should take place on Cinco De Mayo weekend next year at T-Mobile Arena. They exude respect but also say that they're ready for war against each other.

I have goosebumps. Please, make this fight happen.

Opetaia lands a big right hook in the clinch and follows it up with a big left hand that sends Mikaelian reeling to the ropes. Dock gives Mikaelian a standing eight-count. Mikaelian doesn't want to continue, and Dock stops the fight.

Opetaia is doing the better work while Mikaelian is largely staying on the move. Referee Harvey Dock warns Opetaia for low blows, and Mikaelian is given some time to recover.

Opetaia's activity alone is giving him the upper hand, as Mikaelian didn't really sustain any offense or do anything significant. Mikaelian was breathing heavily in his corner between rounds, and he's showing signs of taking damage with some bruising and swelling under his right eye.

Mikaelian lands a big straight right hand that appears to have hurt Opetaia. Opetaia holds on, and Mikaelian gets taken down to the canvas as a result of the clinch.

Opetaia recovers and gets back to being the aggressor in the final minute. He lands a big straight left hand of his own late in the round, but Mikaelian is still in the fight.

Opetaia is starting to fight more aggressively, and his work to the body appears to be having an effect. Mikaelian didn't do much as Opetaia had one of his best rounds of the fight, landing strong shots to the head and body.

The fight is starting to be fought much more at close quarters. Both guys are landing, but Opetaia's shots are cleaner and more effective.

Opetaia did some damage with his straight left hand. He landed a couple that visibly affected Mikaelian and forced him to retreat. Mikaelian also had success with his right hand, though, he didn't have anywhere near the same success as Opetaia.

Mikaelian connected with a few strong right hands as he began to work his way into the fight. Opetaia also had his moments, but a competitive fight is starting to break out.

Opetaia's speed is allowing him to land the cleaner shots. Mikaelian is a step behind and still trying to find his rhythm, but landed a hard right hand at the very end of the round.

Strong start for Opetaia, who landed strong left hands from the southpaw stance. A pair of head clashes appears to have done some damage under Opetaia's right eye.

The high-stakes cruiserweight title shot between Jai Opetaia and Noel Mikaelian is up next in the co-main event. Opetaia enters with The Ring cruiserweight title, while Mikaelian is the WBC champion.

Opetaia is the more dynamic fighter, while Mikaelian will likely try to slow down the fight and shut the Australian southpaw down. How Mikaelian deals with Opetaia's power and athleticism will likely tell the tale of the fight.

Well, that was quick.

The hype train surrounding Da'Mazion Vanhouter won't be slowing down anytime soon. He drops Akpejiori twice en route to his second straight first-round knockout. The first-round knockout was Vanhouter's sixth in his last seven fights.

The American heavyweight prospect looks the part 13 fights into his career.

Vanhouter can't miss as he hurts and drops Akpejiori early in the first round. After Vanhouter seemed to hurt his shoulder, it didn't matter, as he sent Akpejiori with a pair of devastating straight right hands to end the fight.

Promising American heavyweight prospect Da'Mazion Vanhouter faces Raphael Akpejiori in an eight-round fight. Vanhouter has won six straight fights by knockout and hasn't gone beyond the third round during that streak.

Between fights, a moment of silence was held for Ricky Hatton. Hatton won world titles at 140 and 147 pounds in his illustrious career.

We go to the scorecards, and all three judges have it 97-93 for Cortes.

Cortes' ability to box and land the cleaner shots told the tale of the fight. Magsayo tried to stage a late rally, but it was too little, too late for the former champion.

After the win, Cortes says he's open to a fight with Jose Valenzuela.

There was little urgency from Magsayo. Cortes' strong start should be enough to notch him the biggest win of his career.

A big left hook from Magsayo appears to buckle Cortes late, but he recovers quickly. Will there be any drama in the final round?

It was more of the same in rounds six and seven for Cortes. He is thoroughly outboxing Magsayo from distance and landing the cleaner shots when they're on the inside. Magsayo is struggling to find answers and keeps falling to the canvas whenever he leans forward on the inside.

Magsayo had some success with his right hand later in the seventh round, and Cortes is cut around his right eye. Magsayo carried the momentum into the eighth, which was his best round of the fight. However, he should need a knockout to win the fight.

Cortes had another knockdown overturned by replay after he landed a right hand while Magsayo leaned forward with his head down in the fourth round.

Cortes is in control and landing the cleaner shots, whether he's leading or countering Magsayo.

Cortes is off to a strong start and dropped Magsayo with a right hand to the body, though, it was more because he was leaning on him. The knockdown was later overturned by replay review.

Nevertheless, Cortes has landed the more telling shots and found success connecting with his left hook to the head and body and straight right hands. Magsayo is also having his moments when he's pushing forward and punching between Cortes' shots.

Mark Magsayo and Andres Cortes are in the ring for their high-stakes lightweight clash. Who will emerge as a contender at 135 pounds?

Newly crowned WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez visited Garcia in his locker room to wish him and his team luck. If Garcia wins, could a unification bout with Lopez be on the horizon?

The retired five-division and three-time undisputed champion has been in the headlines over the last week after his back-and-forth with unified 154-pound champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis in person on DAZN and TNT, and teasing a fight against him on social media.

Garcia has voiced his displeasure with Crawford on numerous occasions, including at the beginning of fight week.

In an entertaining welterweight clash, Alexis Rocha gets the most notable win of his career. The scorecards felt much wider than the action indicated. Hopefully, the back-and-forth nature of the fight was a sign of things to come, while questionable scorecards aren't.

Rocha, The Ring's No. 9-ranked welterweight, dropped Ramirez in the ninth round. Ramirez was once a unified 140-pound champion, but he's clearly on the back nine of his career.

There's been no shortage of drama in the build-up to the 12-round clash between Garcia and Benn. It has ranged from them nearly coming to blows at the press conference to officially announce the fight on July 18 in New York, to whether Benn would make weight.

Fortunately, there was little drama with Benn making weight. Benn and Garcia weighed in under the welterweight limit on Friday, setting the stage for what should be an entertaining clash for as long as the 12-round fight lasts.
