One of boxing’s most polarizing figures of the 21st century has been captured.
Numerous media outlets reported Friday that fugitive Daniel Kinahan was arrested Wednesday in Dubai and will be extradited to his home country of Ireland, where he is accused of various serious offenses related to organized crime. Kinahan founded defunct MTK Global, a boxing management company that represented numerous top fighters, most notably former heavyweight champ Tyson Fury.
Kinahan, 48, has resided in Dubai since 2017 due to his alleged ties to an international crime syndicate.
The United States government placed Kinahan on its “Most Wanted List” in April 2022 and offered a $5 million reward for his capture. His influence in boxing has waned over the past couple years, but he was considered one of the sport’s power brokers, despite his criminal history, for several years.
