Eddie Hearn's second-half plans for Matchroom Boxing are beginning to take shape.
On Saturday, Hearn will stage his strongest stateside show of the year in a co-promotion with Top Rank when WBA and WBO 154-pound champion Xander Zayas (23-0, 13 KOs) defends his titles against Jaron Ennis (35-0, 31 KOs) at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, as part of a DAZN Pay-Per-View/DAZN Ultimate main event.
The British promoter’s plans for July are set as well, headlined by Diego Pacheco’s fight against Immanuwel Aleem on July 18 in Los Angeles and Anthony Joshua's return July 25 against Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia.
“Going into August, we will have a show in London that will be announced shortly,” Hearn revealed on the Matchroom YouTube channel. “We'll also have another show in Australia headlined by Teremoana Teremoana. Pat Brown against John Hedges to headline in Manchester will be announced shortly. Katie Taylor will go on September 5 [against Flora Pili] in front of close to 90,000 in Croke Park in Ireland.
“We'll have a huge show September 4 in America, the Friday night before the Taylor fight. Then we'll have Ben Whittaker in a big fight, headlining in early October. In October, we'll have Dalton Smith in the rescheduled fight against Alberto Puello. Jesse Rodriguez to get out; Boots once he wins Saturday. Dmitry Bivol as well, against either David Benavidez or Artur Beterbiev.
“I'm probably missing a load of stuff as well, but it's just ram-packed, all around the world for the rest of the year. I'm looking forward to a big end to the year.”
Hearn also has plans to be a key player in staging dream fights between Joshua and Tyson Fury, which could take place as soon as November, and between “Bam” Rodriguez and Naoya Inoue, which could take place as soon as December.
