Rico Verhoeven seeks to do what no man has managed since 2009, by toppling Oleksandr Usyk come May 23.
The decorated kickboxing champion will make his first competitive boxing appearance since debuting with a second-round stoppage of unheralded Janos Finfera in Germany 12 years ago when facing The Ring and unified heavyweight titleholder Usyk atop an eight-fight card exclusively on DAZN at the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs), two years his senior at 39, addressed criticism at Tuesday's inaugural presser after choosing a showcase bout rather than defend his world titles against a world-ranked contender or mandatory challenger.
