Vergil Ortiz has filed an emergency motion to confirm expiration of Golden Boy Promotions' temporary restraining order against him.
Ortiz was in the process of finalizing a superfight with fellow 154-pound contender Jaron Ennis in April at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas before Golden Boy had the TRO granted on February 13.
The order restricts Ortiz from entering into third party negotiations for a fight with Ennis.
Matchroom Boxing, which promotes Ennis, is attempting to stage the bout this spring.
Ortiz, however, has now filed an emergency motion to receive confirmation the TRO has expired, claiming the Court noted February 27 was the expiration date for the order, according to a document obtained by The Ring.
The letter also states that since the TRO was granted, Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn confirmed as recently as this past weekend that Ennis is still interested in fighting Ortiz. However, further delays "beyond the next few days" would force Ennis to look at alternative fight plans.
