Ryan Garcia expects Mario Barrios to kiss his WBC welterweight title goodbye.
With just a few days remaining before their pay-per-view main event on “The Ring: High Stakes” at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) believes that he’s ready to put on a show.
“Come Saturday night, I’m gonna be a mean m-----------,” Garcia said during Thursday.
Garcia talks a good game but failed to back it up in his last fight, a unanimous decision setback against heavy underdog Rolando Romero on May 2.
Barrios (29-2-2, 18 KOs) hasn’t looked sharp either. The 30-year-old champion settled for back-to-back draws in his latest appearances, against Abel Ramos and 46-year-old Manny Pacquiao.
Barrios is determined to prove that those were off nights. He and his team believe he has the tools and style to confuse Garcia in the ring.
Garcia, however, doubts his opponent will bring anything new to the table.
“There’s not a lot of things that I haven’t seen in the sport of boxing,” Garcia said. “My long amateur career, the amount of fights I had, the amount of sparring I had. We have to see how he is but I definitely don’t think that it’s something that I haven’t seen.”
DAZN will distribute “The Ring: High Stakes” to non-subscribers on pay-per-view for $69.99 in the United States and £24.99 in the United Kingdom. The show is included in DAZN’s Ultimate monthly plan for subscribers ($44.99; £24.99).
