Romero, who upset Ryan Garcia by unanimous decision in a WBA welterweight title fight 10 months ago, discussed with Reeno his ongoing negotiations with Devin Haney, why a rematch with Garcia hasn’t happened, undefeated five-division women’s champ Claressa Shields stating she would beat him in a legitimate fight, his relationship with longtime promoter Floyd Mayweather, whom Romero has credited with saving his life when he was a homeless teenager, and other topics.

North Las Vegas’ Romero (17-2, 13 KOs) hopes to return May 30 in what would be a 147-pound title unification fight with Haney (33-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC), who won the WBO belt from Brian Norman Jr. on November 22.
