Mizuki Hiruta delivered an impressive performance, beating a spirited Mai Soliman by unanimous decision to retain her Ring and WBO super flyweight titles on The Ring's "Glory in Giza" card.
The victory, live on DAZN, was Hiruta’s seventh successful title defense. Judge Danrex Tadaspen scored it 99-91, while judges Dian Drews Milani and Olena Pobyvailo both had it 98-92.
Hiruta (11-0, 2 KOs) was fighting for the first time in 2026 after she went 4-0 in 2025 and won The Ring’s Female Fighter of the Year. Soliman (10-2, 6 KOs), of Cairo, Egypt, was fighting outside of her adopted home country, Australia, for the first time in her career.
Soliman entered the fight on a six-fight win streak and had won her last four by stoppage.
It was evident from the opening bell where Hiruta and Soliman’s advantages lay. The Japanese southpaw was much quicker and more skilled, while Soliman was much stronger and her punches visibly snapped Hiruta’s head back.
Hiruta’s volume and combination punching and Soliman’s power told the tale of the first round. Hiruta connected with more punches, though, they weren’t as clean as the pair of right hands that Soliman connected with.
As the rounds progressed, Soliman still had her moments, but they became fewer and farther between. Hiruta’s well-rounded attack and ability to use her footwork offensively and defensively to get in and out of range allowed the Okayama City native to seize control of the bout.
Soliman had her best moments of the fight in the eighth round when she landed a few straight right hands that put Hiruta on the defensive. She came back out on the offensive to start the ninth round and found a home for her straight right hand again early, but Hiruta managed to weather the late rally and outboxed Soliman down the stretch en route to winning her fourth straight fight by unanimous decision.
Tani batters Lapin in four
Benjamin Mendez Tani (10-1, 2 KOs) upset the previously unbeaten Daniel Lapin (13-1, 5 KOs), dropping him three times in the fourth round before referee Danrex Tapdasan stopped the the PPV opener.
Tani’s forward pressure and aggression caused Lapin to rapidly break down, dropping Usyk's stablemate for the first time early in the fourth round with a pair of left uppercuts. Lapin rose to his feet visibly hurt, then he was sent to the canvas for the second time from a right uppercut to the body.
Lapin valiantly tried to hold Tani off but it was to no avail, and the Frenchman sent the Ukrainian to the canvas for the third and final time with a straight right hand.
Other undercard results:
  • Cruiserweight, 6 rounds: Jamar Talley (7-0, 6 KOs) def. Basem Mamdouh (10-3, 4 KOs) KO 2
