Frank Warren is promising Daniel Dubois a swift return to action after the WBO heavyweight champion stopped Fabio Wardley inside two rounds on Saturday night.
After getting off the floor twice to win a memorable war in May, a laser-focused Dubois made short work of Wardley in their rematch.
Immediately after the fight, the delighted 29-year-old called for “big money and big fights” and Warren told talkSPORT that he will back in the ring early in 2027.
“He'll fight in February, and we're going to look and see [who he fights],” the Hall of Fame promoter said.
Years of clever, patient planning has paid off and Warren has established an iron grip on the heavyweight division.
As well as Dubois (24-3, 23 KOs), IBF champion Filip Hrgovic (21-1, 16 KOs) and WBC titleholder Agit Kabayel (27-0, 19 KOs) fight under the Queensberry banner.
Should Tyson Fury beat Anthony Joshua when they meet in the main event of a Ring show on December 11, he will win the WBA title and all four sanctioning body belts will be under the same roof.
Murat Gassiev (34-2, 27 KOs), whose last two fights have taken place on IBA shows, currently holds a version of the WBA title and Warren has said that he would have no problems with working with the Russian.
That leaves two-time undisputed champion, Oleksandr Usyk (25-0, 16 KOs), who holds The Ring title but is now 39 years old and openly planning his exit from the sport.
Kabayel and Hrgovic both have mandatory challengers to oblige before the mission to crown a new undisputed champion can begin but Warren is already planning some major events for 2027 and Dubois will play a big part.
“We’ve got a couple of shows coming up. We've got a big show in Germany on November 28 where the WBC heavyweight champion, Agit Kabayel, is fighting Nelson Hysa. I think we're up to 43 or 44,000 tickets sold for that and let's see the outcome of that because that would be a great unification fight,” Warren said.
“Filip Hrgovic was there on the night who's the WBO champion. He was hot to trot. He wanted a rematch because Daniel already has a win over him. That's the only loss on his record.
“So, there's quite a few permutations but he [Dubois] will be in a big fight and he wants big fights because he tells me he wants to earn lots of money. The only way to earn lots of money? You’ve got to be in big fights.”
