Thibeault beat Desley Robinson by unanimous decision to win the IBF and WBO middleweight titles from her and The Ring middleweight belt, which was vacant. The win made the 29-year-old Thibeault the fastest to win The Ring title, in just her fifth pro bout.

The three judges scored it 100-90 for the two-time Canadian Olympian. Thibeault-Robinson served as ESPN’s co-main event before Cherneka Johnson faced Dina Thorslund for the undisputed bantamweight title at Caribe Royale.

Thibeault (5-0, 3 KOs) used her significant edge in height and reach to her advantage from the opening stanza. The 6-foot southpaw found a home for her jab and straight left hand early and often. Late in the first round, Thibeault connected with blistering left hands that sent Robinson (12-4, 4 KOs) reeling to a neutral corner and followed up with a barrage of punches, though the Australian managed to survive.

The first round effectively set the tone for Thibeault. Robinson, 38, struggled to get into the fight and sustain any momentum. The Logan City, Australia, native had a seven-fight win streak and defended her unified title twice before Thibeault beat her.

The most adversity Thibeault encountered came in the seventh round, when a clash of heads led to blood gushing from her nose. The action was halted so the ringside doctor could examine Thibeault.

Amanda Galle’s relentless pressure and ability to land power shots proved too much in a dominant performance against Shurretta Metcalf.

The 37-year-old Galle (13-1-1, 1 KO) asserted herself early, pushing back Metcalf (15-6-1, 2 KOs), a former IBF bantamweight champion, and landing as she tried to exit range. She continued to find success with that approach throughout and won their eight-round bout unanimously by scores of 80-72, 80-72 and 78-74.

The Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, native had her best round in the fifth, as she connected with multiple power shots that left Metcalf, 41, on unsteady legs. The Dallas native tried to keep range with her longer reach, but she struggled to sustain any offense or land anything of consequence that could hold off Galle.

Galle lost a unanimous decision to IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO titleholder Cherneka Johnson in her last fight on December 19 in Miami.

Krystal Rosado (10-1, 2 KOs) landed the cleaner and more effective shots throughout an eight-round bantamweight against Alondra Hernandez (11-3, 2 KOs) and shut her out by the same score, 80-72, on all three cards.

Her unanimous-decision victory was the Carolina, Puerto Rico, native’s third in a row.

Jan Paul Rivera soundly outboxed Ruben Garcia to earn an eight-round, unanimous-decision victory in their junior lightweight bout. Rivera won by scores of 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73.

Rivera (16-0, 7 KOs), of Salinas, Puerto Rico, is ranked No. 10 by the WBA at featherweight and No. 13 by the WBO at junior lightweight. Garcia (25-8-2, 11 KOs) suffered decision defeats earlier in his career to four-division champ Nonito Donaire and former featherweight contender Michael Conlan.

Cuban heavyweight prospect Dainier Pero battered Aleem Whitfield to the body throughout their bout before stopping him at 2:20 of the third round with a flurry of punches along the ropes to earn his third straight knockout victory.

Pero (14-0, 11 KOs), a 6-foot-5 southpaw, is No. 9 in the WBA’s rankings. Whitfield (10-2, 6 KOs), of Geneva, New York, has been stopped in two of his past three fights.
