Abdullah Mason will defend his WBO lightweight title vs. former titleholder Joe Cordina on July 4 in Cleveland at Rocket Arena, home of the NBA’s Cavs, on DAZN, sources tell The Ring.
Mason, a Ring Ambassador, won the title in November in a thrilling performance over Sam Noakes in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mason, 22, has the look of a rising star between his fighting spirit, athleticism and willingness to engage.
And now he’ll have the opportunity to establish himself as an attraction in his home city.
The southpaw is rated No. 5 by The Ring at lightweight while Cordina is 10th.
Cordina (18-1, 9 KOs) lost his 130-pound title to Anthony Cacace via 8th-round TKO in an upset in May 2024 in Riyadh.
Cordina, 34, of Wales is promoted by Matchroom while Mason is with Top Rank. The May 30 O’Shaquie Foster-Raymond Ford fight also pits the promotions against one another.
Cordina is coming off a unanimous decision over Gabe Flores in December.
Mason (20-0, 17 KOs) will be fighting a Ring-rated lightweight for the second consecutive outing.
