Angelo Leo's IBF featherweight title defense vs. Ra’eese Aleem on Saturday night near Atlanta is off.
Aleem missed weight by 2.8 pounds at the weigh-in on Friday. The bout was scheduled to headline a Salita Promotions card on DAZN at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia.
BoxingScene was first to report the news that the title bout was canceled.
The card, however, will still take place. The scheduled co-main event between light heavyweights Atif Oberlton (15-0, 13 KOs) and Carlos Gongora (22-3, 17 KOs) has been elevated to the main event.
It's scheduled for 10 rounds.
In a statement, Dmitiry Salita said: "It’s disappointing that Ra’eese Aleem did not make weight and that the camps were unable to reach a resolution to keep this outstanding fight together. The focus now shifts to one of America’s hottest young boxing contenders, Atif Oberlton, as he takes on the toughest test of his career against former world title challenger Carlos Góngora in his first main event appearance."
