Hometown hero.
Alexandre Gaumont will get a homecoming when he faces his biggest challenge yet in Ramadan Hiseni at the Lac Leamy Casino, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada, on Thursday, December 11.
The aspiring middleweight prospect is pleased to have this opportunity and intends to give his fans something to cheer.
"As always, it's a privilege to fight in front of my people," said Gaumont in a press release. "This will be the biggest test of my career, and my first scheduled 10-round fight, but I'm not worried. After two back-to-back training camps, I'll be in the best shape of my life—and with the crowd behind me, I'll be stronger than ever."
In the co-feature, Imam Khataev (10-1, 9 KOs), rated at No. 8 by The Ring at light heavyweight, is tabbed return against an as yet unknown opponent.
The Eye of The Tiger event will also see the return, after over two years, of popular heavyweight Simon Kean (23-2, 22 KOs) and Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse (7-2, 2 KOs), who lost her WBC heavyweight title to Claressa Shields last July.
Meanwhile, lightweight Avery Duval-Martin (14-0-1, 8 KOs) and junior lightweight Thomas Chabot (11-0, 8 KOs) will round out the card.
Gaumont (13-0, 9 KOs) turned over in May 2021. He has steadily risen mostly beating journeyman, all the while building a local following.
The 30-year-old, who works a day job in construction, thrilled his home fans by stopping Andres Viera (TKO 2) last October and then stayed active, taking out Mathis Lourenco (TKO 4) on April 10, while injury prevented a summer appearance.
Hiseni (21-2-2, 8 KOs) has been a professional in his native Switzerland for a decade. The 29-year-old wracked up 15 wins before being held to a draw by Nizar Trimech (D 10). He suffered his first defeat in his next outing against French journeyman Ismael Seck (UD 8).
He got back to winning ways before heading to Canada where he fought a draw with Shamil Khataev (D 10) last June. Since then, he has fought four times, with three wins, losing to unbeaten Eugeniusz Makarczuk (UD 10), though has won twice since.
