Alexis Rocha continues the road back to contention.

The 27-year-old southpaw was 146.4 pounds ahead of his second fight of 2024. He faces Santiago Dominguez, who weighed 146.8 pounds for their scheduled ten-round welterweight bout.

Rocha (24-2, 16 knockouts) was a top-rated welterweight contender this time last year.

A shot at the WBO 147-pound title awaited the fighting pride of Santa Ana, California, who’d won seven straight. It ended in a sixth-round knockout loss to Giovanni Santillan (32-1, 17 KOs) last Oct. 21 in Inglewood.

Rocha rebounded with a seventh-round stoppage of Fredrick Lawson on April 27 in Fresno.

Dominguez (27-0, 20 KOs) is expected to provide a stiffer test than the shopworn Lawson.

The 32-year-old from Phoenix by way of Ciudad Obregon, Mexico is perfect as a pro, though versus modest opposition. He enters on the heels of his best win to date, a split decision over Jose Luis Sanchez (14-4-1, 4 KOs). The bout took place on a March 30 DAZN show promoted by Golden Boy, who brought him back for this affair.
