Austin “Ammo” Williams outdueled Patrice Volny for the WBA Continental Americas Middleweight title by unanimous decision (118-110, 116-112, 115-113) in the main event of a Matchroom Boxing card live from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla., live worldwide on DAZN.

Williams (18-1, 12 KOs) was the more active fighter over the 12 rounds, throwing 150 more punches than Volny (19-2, 13 KOs). The native of Montreal, Canada, Volny utilized a high guard to frustrate “Ammo” and box behind his jab, outlanding Williams 77-17 in that department.

“This is what we train for: hard fights and tough guys who want to win,” said Williams following the victory. “He had never been stopped before. I was going for it, but my maturity told me I can’t go and get caught doing something. I learned from doing that. I had to beat him strategically.”

Williams credited his trainer with the strategy that kept him in the bout after struggling early on with Volny’s guard. “My coach, Kevin Cunningham, told me to keep pushing him. If he wasn’t telling me that in the corner, I would have lost this fight. I appreciate him very much and that’s what I need to go to the championship level.”

“I can be proud of this; I can go celebrate for maybe 20 minutes with my family and then I’m right back to work. Because I’m coming for it all. World Championships, undisputed titles, I’m coming for every single fighter, every middleweight in the division, I’m coming.”

Matchroom Chairman, Eddie Hearn, was impressed by what he saw from Williams. “That was by far the best win of his career. Volny is a serious fighter, and it was the conditioning that came through for Ammo. The middleweight division is kind of dead. Right now, it has characters, personalities, and exciting fighters. He’s got it all, and I think it's time in 2025 to see that man fight for the world middleweight title.”
