A diss track can hit harder than a knockout punch and cause more generational damage than a defeat.
Tupac Shakur had "Hit 'Em Up" for The Notorious B.I.G.
Kendrick Lamar has "Not Like Us" for Drake.
Former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. is taking a swing at the genre as well with "Step Into The Ring," a diss song packed with knockout intentions taking aim at the heavyweight division, all while promoting his comeback.
Ruiz targets the likes of former rival Anthony Joshua as well as Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Deontay Wilder, Jarrell Miller and Dillian Whyte.
The jingle is worth a listen if you want to hear lyrical combinations and Ruiz rhyme lines like: “[Tyson Fury] you say you’ll beat me with one hand, I would really love to see that. Come and meet me in the ring, I'll lay you flat on your back.”
It’s been a momentous week for Ruiz (35-2-1, 22 KOs), who signed a promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing and finally appears ready to step into the ring on September 4 against Damian Knyba.
The soon-to-be 37-year-old has fought just four times since shocking Joshua in June 2019 to become a unified heavyweight champion.
