Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez Jr., and Oscar De La Hoya are high atop the list of those who have blasted Davis for his decision to move on from a legacy-defining fight that would have paid the 27-year-old a career-high $2.35 million purse.

The Ring's Mike Coppinger reported Davis was looking for a $5 million net purse (after management fees) to fight Haney despite never earning more than $1 million for a fight in his career. Davis previously declined a $3 million offer from Top Rank, which ultimately led to last week's purse bid.

On this week's episode of "," Hall of Fame fighter-turned-commentator Timothy Bradley Jr. went scorched earth on Davis and questioned "The Businessman's" calculated decision.

"He's for sure ducking. He's ducking like hell," Bradley said. "Quack, quack, quack, quack – straight up duck. This is probably one of the biggest ducks in boxing history, seriously. Think about everything that Davis did leading up to this. Everybody was paying attention, like, this guy is really about that smoke.

"You cannot do all those things that he did to get himself in this position, and then all of a sudden say it ain't enough money. That's bull crap. He ducked.

"He wanted this fight, right? But with his actions, that tells me right there that he never wanted this damn fight. ... Sometimes you gotta take a little less to make more later. … He will never fight him again."

Where Davis (15-0, 10 KOs) goes from here remains to be seen. While the boxing world has shredded his decision to pieces, The Ring's No. 2-rated junior welterweight contender from Virginia has remained quiet.

"Keyshawn Davis was looking like he's gonna be the next real big thing," Bradley continued. "He puts on a crazy performance against Gustavo Lemos and knocked him out [in November 2024]. The upside is crazy. He came back [after beating Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight title in February 2025] against Edwin De Los Santos, didn't make weight [in July of last year], got into a fight in the back – ugly, completely tarnished, right? Then he comes back, stops Jamaine Ortiz in a helluva fight [in January] and beats Nahir Albright [in a May rematch]. But at the same time, nobody really showed up like the first time. No one cared, right?

"He thinks that he should be at Shakur Stevenson's status, but he's really not. Shakur is a four-division world champion. Keyshawn hasn't done anything in the sport.

"He's been up and down in his career. It hasn't been a steady climb for him. This right here, and not taking this Haney fight, and not taking this deal, when he wanted this particular fight, it's detrimental for his career.
