Moore represents a significant step up in competition for Savage (10-0, 10 KOs). Eight wins have come against opponents with losing records. He hasn’t fought beyond the second round in his last four fights.
A heavyweight clash between Brandon Moore and DeAndre Savage is set to headline a Salita Promotions card on Sept. 19 at Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan, on DAZN.
Moore will be making the second defense of his USBA belt when he faces Savage of nearby Flint, Michigan. In the co-feature, Olivia Curry and Kaye Scott will fight for the vacant WBA and WBC middleweight titles.
“DeAndre Savage really doesn’t have a chance,” Moore said via press release. “I’m coming in to show that I’m the better fighter. My jab, my footwork and my power make me the far superior fighter. There’s a high chance I’ll get him out before 10 rounds. You might as well start calling me the 'Savage Killer.' I love fighting in this area and I’m hyped to be back, but make no mistake, I’m walking out with my hand raised and an even bigger fanbase than I came in with.”
Moore has won four straight fights since his lone defeat, a fifth-round stoppage loss to undefeated heavyweight contender Richard Torrez Jr. In his last fight, Moore, of Lakeland, Florida, dropped and beat the previously undefeated Stanley Wright (14-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous technical decision on June 6 at Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York.
A clash of heads caused a nasty cut on Moore's left eye, and the ringside doctor stopped the fight.
Moore represents a significant step up in competition for Savage (10-0, 10 KOs). Eight wins have come against opponents with losing records. He hasn’t fought beyond the second round in his last four fights.
“I know Brandon from the Olympic trials, and I respect what he’s done, but I’ve been in camps with top 10 and top 15 heavyweights — Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker and others — so I know my skills and I’m confident in myself,” Savage said. “I haven’t fought anyone in the pros with his caliber yet, but that changes on September 19. I’m coming in at about 280 pounds — that’s real horsepower — and I plan on using every bit of it to get the job done.”
Curry (7-2-1, 2 KOs) is coming off a draw against Melody Popravak (2-2-1, 1 KO) in April 2024 and a loss to unified IBF/WBO super middleweight champion Shadasia Green (16-1, 11 KOs) in August 2023. Curry will be fighting at middleweight for the first time in three years.
Scott (4-1), of Sydney, Australia, will be making a second bid for a world title. She’s coming off a unanimous decision loss to unified IBF/WBO middleweight champion Desley Robinson (10-3, 3 KOs) in their second meeting in December.
Scott won their first fight by majority decision in an eight-round fight in March 2024.
