Unbeaten junior middleweight Callum Walsh will finally receive his homecoming fight.
Walsh will face Przemyslaw Runowski on September 20 at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. The card will stream live on UFC Fight Pass. The announcement was made by UFC President Dana White.
“I’m excited to announce that I will be in Dublin on September 20 for undefeated Irish boxing superstar Callum Walsh’s next fight,” said White in an announcement on his social media platforms. “He will be facing Przemyslaw Runowski. He’s never been finished in 25 pro fights. This is a massive opportunity for Runowski and a huge test for Callum Walsh.”
White has allowed Walsh a platform to fight on UFC Fight Pass streams. Walsh regularly attends UFC fight cards as a guest of White in the United States and abroad.
Walsh (11-0, 9 knockouts), who is originally from Cork, Ireland and now lives and trains in Hollywood, California, last fought on June 7, dropping Carlos Ortiz of Mexico multiple times before ending matters in the second round.
After the fight, the southpaw Walsh was adamant about his next fight taking place in Ireland, where he was an amateur standout, having won multiple national championships before turning pro in December 2021.
Earlier, on March 15, Walsh stopped Dauren Yeleussinov in the ninth round. Walsh then overcame a knockdown to defeat Ismael Villarreal by unanimous decision on November 9 in a close and competitive fight.
Walsh, who is promoted by Tom Loeffler, has fought all of his pro fights in the United States, mostly in Southern California and in New York City.
The 23-year-old is trained by Freddie Roach.
Runowski (22-2-1, 6 KOs), who resides in Slupsk, Poland, stopped Benjamin Lamptey after round three of his last bout on May 31. In his previous fight on March 22, Runowski defeated former fringe contender Juan Ruiz by split decision.
The 30-year-old has won his last four bouts since losing by unanimous decision to then-unbeaten welterweight Michael McKinson in August 2021.
Francisco A. Salazar has written for The Ring since October 2013 and has covered boxing in Southern California and abroad since 2000. Francisco also covers boxing for the Ventura County (California) Star newspaper. He can be reached at
