On Friday afternoon, Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez broke his silence for the first time - with an exclusive video posted by The Ring on social media.
Over the course of the last few days, the sport of boxing was turned upside with numerous twists and turns - and all of the scenarios involved the immediate future of Canelo's career.
On Monday, The Ring reported that Canelo had an agreement in place for a Riyadh Season mega-fight with fellow four division world champion Terence Crawford, on a date in September in Las Vegas.
However, the fight with Crawford was suddenly off just 48 hours later - when it appeared that a deal was getting close for a novelty fight between Canelo and social media star turned boxer, Jake Paul.
On Thursday night, Turki Alalshikh - head of Riyadh Season and the General Entertainment Authority - made a sensational announcement that Canelo had finalized a four fight agreement with Riyadh Season - with the first bout taking place in the month of May in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Paul, who wasn't happy with Canelo's decision, took to social media on Friday and aggressively lashed out at the Mexican fighter.
However, Canelo sent a strong message right back.
"Hey guys, don't pay attention to anything [from] this f--king Youtuber. I just fight real fighters... no f--king around with Canelo! Come on - Let's go!" Canelo stated on exclusive video published by The Ring.
As previously stated, the first bout of the four fight deal will take place in the month of May in Riyadh. Boxing Insider Mike Coppinger reports that Jermall Charlo and Bruno Surace, who upset Jaime Munguia, are two possible options.
Canelo will then return in the month of September in the planned mega-fight with Crawford - in a Riyadh Season headliner taking place in Las Vegas. The target venue is Allegiant Stadium.
Canelo would then take part in another major fight, in February 2026, back in Riyadh. And then Canelo heads back to Riyadh to headline a fourth Riyadh Season card in October of 2026.
