On Saturday, Nick Ball will put his WBA featherweight title on the line for the fourth time when he faces former two-weight world champion Brandon Figueroa.
Ball, who is rated No. 3 by The Ring at 126 pounds, and the dangerous American, who is rated No. 7, will lock horns at the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool.
Former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton is excited to work the show as part of the broadcast team for what promises to be an exciting fight.
"Even before the fight happens I'm buzzing to be working on it because of the potential of how good the fight could be," Frampton told The Ring.
"Figueroa is someone I actually enjoy watching. He seems a respectful enough guy. An really good fighter, established fighter.
"In my eyes, Nick Ball is one of my favorite fighters to watch in the U.K. I think he's brilliant at what he does, a little ball of muscle."
From what we have seen from both men in their careers to date, this promises to be a fan-friendly fight between two fighters who don't take a backward step.
"That's why I'm excited for it," he said. "Both guys with similar styles, they should meet head on in the center of the ring and tear lumps out of each other.
"I can't really see it being anything other than a really, really good fight."
In his last two fights, Figueroa hasn't been in the best form, dropping a listless 12-round decision to Stephen Fulton last February, before laboring to victory against Joet Gonzalez (UD 12) five-months later.
The extended break may have helped the Texan but it could also be that he has peaked.
"Of course, when you fight like he does," concurred Frampton. "I'd imagine he spars pretty heavy as well. I don't have any evidence but in my head people who fight like he does, I imagine them to spar a lot in the gym.
"At 29, it's not the youngest for a lighter weight division. Some people are done or past their best when they hit that age. We may have seen the best of Brandon Figueroa, so there's a chance of an under par performance from him."
Meanwhile, Frampton feels the defending champion has quietly built a very impressive record notching wins over the likes of Raymond Ford (SD 12) when he won the WBA title, former world title challenger Ronnie Rios (TKO 10) and, most recently, previously unbeaten Sam Goodman (UD 12) on August 16.
"If you look at the [Rey] Vargas fight which was called a draw, in my eyes, and the vast majority of people's, he won that," he said. "That would have been another big win to add to the resume.
"[Ball] hasn't really had an easy touch in quite a while, I know TJ [Doheny] was older and slightly passed his best. In terms of British fighters around at the moment, that's probably the best resume."
Ultimately, Frampton feels the timing is right for Ball to claim the victory.
"Nick Ball could look really good and make a big of a statement win," he said. "I think it's a really good fight but I think it's really good matchmaking as well: an established former world champion in Figueroa, who's a name in the division.
"I do think it'll be difficult but he'll win. I do fancy Nick Ball to nick it on points."
The Queensberry promotions show will be broadcast on DAZN at 8 p.m. GMT and 3 p.m. ET.
