Claressa Shields’ win over Lani Daniels may have been her last under the Salita Promotions banner.

After defending her undisputed heavyweight title for the first time with a dominant unanimous decision over Daniels, Shields announced that she’s set to become a promotional free agent in front of a nearly sold-out crowd at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Regardless of whether she stays with Salita Promotions or goes elsewhere, Shields’ goal remains the same.

“I've been with Salita Promotions since I was 21, and now I'm 30,” she said. “Right now, this is our last fight on our contract. I love [Dmitry] Salita and this is my guy, but I want to make the biggest fights and the best fights.”

Salita Promotions has been behind Shields (17-0, 3 KOs), a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-division undisputed champion, since her second pro fight.

“The future is bright, and I'm very grateful to have been on this journey with Claressa and I look forward to tomorrow,” Salita said. “Claressa is incredible. She's a hero. She's an inspiration, and I'm very grateful and feel privileged to have been walking down this path with and for her to entrust me in so many incredible steps in her career.”

The fight got off to a slow start, as Daniels (11-3, 1 KO) was more than apt to move around the ring and she didn’t land a single punch in the first two rounds. Shields started to successfully cut off the ring and find the target regularly at the end of the second and landed at least 21 punches between Rounds 4-8.

With the fight all but decided, Daniels outlanded Shield 12-11 in the 10th and final round. Shields outlanded Daniels 167-41 in total punches and 138-34 in power shots. Of Shields' punches landed, 35 were to the body.

"She fought a hard fight," Shields said. "I hit Lani with some big shots. I broke her to the body. I broke her down to the head. I mixed it up on her. Lani is just very, very tough, and I knew she would be tough."
