Caleb Plant is as confident as ever heading into his May 31 matchup against Armando Resendiz.

The bout will headline a PBC on Prime Video card at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and could be a precursor to a bigger fight if Jermall Charlo gets past Thomas LaManna in the co-main event.

Plant (23-2, 14 KOs), the WBA super middleweight interim champion, is promising to hold up to his end of the bargain.

“Resendiz is a tough competitor and this is his moment,” Plant said during a media workout at the DLX Boxing gym in Las Vegas. “He’s looking to seize his big moment and I remember what it was like when I had my big moment, and how badly I wanted it. I’m expecting him to come in guns blazing. But we’ve got something for him.

“I feel like my skills are as sharp as ever. People can see that I’m smoothing out all the edges of my game. I’m going to keep becoming a more well-rounded fighter overall.

“In all of my fights I’m looking to go in and put a show on. Sometimes you may win in impressive fashion and sometimes you might get a close decision. The most important thing is getting your hand raised. But I’m still looking to dominate."

Plant regularly approaches fights with a chip on his shoulder, but even more so recently after outlasting heavy underdog Trevor McCumby in a firefight last time out in September, eventually scoring a ninth-round knockout.

Plant is 2-2 since losing his IBF super middleweight title to Canelo Alvarez by knockout in November 2021. A knockout win against Anthony Dirrell followed in November 2022, and a competitive unanimous decision loss to David Benavidez in March 2023 before he got things right again against McCumby.

“What I crave is to be a winner and a champion,” said Plant. “I want to cement my legacy and show my children firsthand what it looks like to work hard at something. Have I fallen short a couple of times? Yeah, but I did it with integrity and the way a warrior would do it. If you fall short, you dust yourself off and you keep going.”

Plant can further pad his legacy if he gets the chance to fight Charlo.

“First things first and that’s handling business on May 31,” said Plant. “If Charlo can handle his business, or whatever happens in the co-main event, I’m looking for that winner. … If he’s able to handle business, me and Charlo can run it.”
