At their Fanatics Fest press conference in New York in July, Garcia was adamant he would stop Benn inside five rounds. Benn’s prediction on how long the fight will last isn’t too different, as he believes he’ll stop his opponent in the first half of their 12-round bout.

The pair will clash for Garcia's WBC welterweight title at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. It will stream on Paramount+ in the United States and on DAZN across the UK and Ireland.

“We’re both big punchers,” Benn said in a one-on-one interview with The Ring’s Mike Coppinger. “We catch anyone flush on the chin, they’re going to sleep … I believe [I’ll stop him] within six.”

The build-up to Saturday began with a bang when they came face to face for the first time in the Big Apple. Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) and Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) had to be separated and traded verbal jabs throughout the press conference.

Among the war of words was Benn telling Garcia that he has no heart and that he’ll make him quit.

“I told him that to remind him in case he forgets, because he talks like he's the reincarnated Ali,” Benn said. “I heard him say the other day that he would beat [Terence] Crawford. What world do you live in? I get delusional – it's part of the game. You have to be [delusional], but whatever you're smoking, put it down. It ain't doing you no favors.”

Benn, 29, hasn’t scored a stoppage victory in five bouts since his last fight at welterweight, when he stopped Chris Van Heerden in the second round in April 2022.

The Englishman weighed the lightest he had been since then in his last fight, when he outpointed former two-time 140-pound champion Regis Prograis in a 10-round bout on April 11 in London.

Benn weighed 149.6 pounds for the 150-pound catchweight bout.

Benn fought at middleweight twice in 2025, both times against Chris Eubank Jr. He lost the first bout by unanimous decision, but won the rematch in a decisive points victory nearly seven months later. Their first meeting won The Ring’s “Fight of the Year."

Garcia, 28, is making the first defense of his WBC welterweight title. He claimed the title with a one-sided unanimous decision over Mario Barrios. Garcia, The Ring’s No. 6 welterweight, dropped Barrios inside the first 30 seconds of the bout before putting together the most complete performance of his career.

While Garcia poses a different test to Eubank, Benn believes that’s what he needs to rise to the occasion.

“What I'm loving about my last few fights is the challenges it presents,” Benn said.

“The Eubank fight, the first fight going up to 160, then having to adjust and then recalibrate and go again and change my complete tactics all the way around to beat him in the second fight. Having now dropped down to 147, I'm loving the challenge. I think as a fighter, you thrive off challenges.”
