Conor McGregor’s long-awaited return to the UFC cage has been paused.

The Irishman said Tuesday that he’s agreed to face Logan Paul in an exhibition boxing match in India.

“The rumors of a bout with [UFC featherweight champion Ilia] Topuria are false,” McGregor said on X. “I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the octagon.”

Topuria also denied he’d be fighting McGregor.

“The rumors of a bout with McChicken are false,” Topuria said on social media. “I don’t fight, nor am I interested in fighting, with a rapist.”

Last month, McGregor was found liable for sexual assault by a civil jury in Dublin and ordered to pay roughly 250,000 Euros in damages. McGregor said the sex was consensual. He intends to appeal the decision.

As McGregor revealed his plans against Paul, he also addressed the matter.

“I was found liable for assault, and guilty of nothing. I will be pursuing all the defamatory writings about me,” said McGregor.

“I am in amazing spirits! God has chosen me and I accept! Thank you to all those who have looked at this impartially and are supporting me in my fight for justice! The truth shall prevail! As God as my witness.”

The 36-year-old McGregor (22-6) has not fought since 2021, when he broke his leg in a technical knockout loss to Dustin Poirier. The former two-division champion was supposed to return to MMA in June to headline UFC 303 in Las Vegas against Michael Chandler, but McGregor was forced to pull out of the fight due to an injured foot.

McGregor is 1-3 in his last four fights and has won only one bout since 2016.

In 2017, McGregor made his pro boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and was knocked out in the 10th round of a highly lucrative event.

UFC president Dana White has maintained that McGregor, now a part owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, will return to the MMA company in 2025.

McGregor will be seated ringside Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the rematch between heavyweights Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

Logan Paul, the older brother of Jake Paul, has been competing in WWE and has made a solid career transition from content creation into wrestling following boxing matches against Mayweather, Dillon Danis, and KSI throughout the years.

Last week Paul, who recently became a father, claimed that he’s retired from wrestling.
