McGregor is the co-owner of Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) and has one fight remaining on his UFC contract as he recovers from an ACL and meniscus injury sustained during a loss against Max Holloway in July.

After McGregor fulfills his contractual obligations with UFC, David Feldman, his business partner at BKFC, believes McGregor will move forward with a fight featuring his ungloved fists.

"I had a great conversation with him. He's doing well and recovering from surgery," Feldman told The Ring. "I'd be remiss to say that I don't think there's any chance that you don't see Conor McGregor fighting in bare-knuckle boxing after that next UFC fight.

"That's a plan we talk about. With Conor, he's such a big star, and he might even be offered a major boxing match. Who knows? That's also very possible. But if that doesn't happen, I think we can put together a huge mega-fight at BKFC. It would be an unbelievable and iconic watershed moment."

McGregor is the most popular and highest-earning UFC fighter of all time, but "Mystic Mac" has lost his aura over the last decade with shortcomings in and out of the cage.

Over the last nine years, McGregor (22-7) is 1-4 in MMA, with a lucrative loss to Floyd Mayweather in boxing as well. In the rematch against Holloway, McGregor's first fight in five years, the Irishman injured his leg in the opening sequence of the scrap before suffering a stoppage in 69 seconds.

Despite McGregor being past his prime, Feldman believes the 38-year-old southpaw's talent should still crossover well into bare-knuckle boxing.

"I think Conor's skills would translate really well into bare-knuckle boxing," Feldman said. "He's great at being patient and picking and choosing his shots. It will be the best of both worlds – get him a great payday, all while increasing equity in the company."
