Lewis Crocker put the pressure on Paddy Donovan at today's press conference ahead of their Belfast fight this weekend, telling the Limerick man 'you should take me out in one or two rounds'.
Both men meet in a DAZN main event on Saturday night at the SSE Arena in a fight that will determine the mandatory challenger for Jaron Ennis' IBF welterweight title.
At the first presser event a few weeks ago, Crocker (20-0, 11 KOs) and Donovan (14-0, 11 KOs) were certainly a lot livelier and gave more energy to their trash talk, but with two days to go until they meet in the ring, reserved personas were order of the day.
Donovan's trainer Andy Lee let everyone know on the top table what he thought of his man's talents, but Crocker had his retort ready to go a few moments later.
Lee said: "Saturday night will be the unveiling of the next superstar in the welterweight division. One of these guys is going down, I don't think it'll be a decision. I think Paddy will win by knockout, I believe in my man."
But Crocker came back with: "Paddy's good, he's saying he's the next superstar and I'm only British level in his eyes, all the pressure is on him, he should be taking me out in one or two rounds if that's the case."
The IBF final eliminator will represent the second meeting in seven days between trainers Lee and Billy Nelson, who were in the respective corners of Joseph Parker and Martin Bakole last weekend in Riyadh.
Nelson trains Crocker and believes his fighter's world class sparring with former undisputed 140-pound champion Josh Taylor will play a huge part in an eventual victory.
The Scotsman said: "Training has been so good, we've had the very best of sparring, Kieran Molloy, Josh Taylor. The camp has been exceptional. I don't believe there's many welterweights that punch harder in the world, he'll win by knockout on Saturday night.
"Lewis Crocker has got immense boxing skill as well as power. He wants to take your head off but you're going to see vast improvements on Saturday night."
Although the winner will be in line to fight the victor of Jaron Ennis-Eimantas Stanionis, set to take place in Atlantic City on April 12 for the IBF/WBA and Ring titles, Promoter Eddie Hearn said the IBF strap will likely become vacant.
"The winner of this fight will most likely end up fighting for a vacant title," the Matchroom chief said. "Boots-Stanionis could well face the winner in America but otherwise, if Paddy wins we'll take the fight to Limerick, if Lewis wins, we'll come back here to Belfast."
