Eddie Hearn and Jake Paul have reached a settlement that included the British promoter dropping his $100 million defamation lawsuit against the polarizing boxer and influencer.

The New York court where the suit was filed 2½ years ago was made aware of their agreement March 18. The Ring has confirmed that their attorneys filed for a dismissal of the suit Monday in the United States District Court, Southern District of New York, with which Hearn’s lawyer filed it in September 2022.

Several outlets reported news of the settlement, the terms of which were not made public, and Hearn dropping the suit.

Hearn filed the lawsuit because Paul alleged during an interview with IFL TV, a YouTube channel, in September 2022 that Hearn paid veteran boxing judge Glenn Feldman to favor fighters promoted by Hearn’s company.

Paul most notably referred to Katie Taylor’s controversial, split-decision victory over rival Amanda Serrano in their first spectacular slugfest in April 2022 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Connecticut’s Feldman scored their first fight 97-93 for Taylor, whom Serrano hurt badly during the fifth round of that 10-rounder. Taylor also won 96-93 on the card of Italy’s Guido Cavalleri.

Canada’s Benoit Roussel scored that bout 96-94 for Serrano, who lost a split decision in their fight for Taylor’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO lightweight titles. Referee Jon Schorle deducted a point from Taylor for intentionally head-butting Serrano during the eighth round of that bout.

Ireland’s Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs) beat Brooklyn’s Serrano (47-3-1, 31 KOs) in their rematch by one point apiece on all three scorecards. Canada’s Jeremy Hayes, Indiana’s Nathan Palmer and Texas’ Jesse Reyes scored Taylor a 95-94 winner of that November 15 bout on the Paul-Mike Tyson undercard at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Hearn and Paul worked together, albeit from a distance, before the lawsuit was settled to promote the Taylor-Serrano rematch for Taylor’s Ring, IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO junior welterweight titles. Paul’s MVP Promotions was the primary promoter of that event, as it is for their third fight, scheduled for July 11 at Madison Square Garden.

Netflix will stream Taylor-Serrano 3 as the main event of a card that will include only women’s bouts. As the co-feature to Paul-Tyson, Netflix estimated 74 million viewers worldwide watched the second remarkable, brutal battle between Taylor and Serrano.

Taylor, 38, is The Ring’s junior welterweight champion. Serrano, 36, holds The Ring’s featherweight title, but each of her three fights with Taylor were contracted at weights at least two divisions above the featherweight limit of 126 pounds.
