A world title fight has been added to the undercard of Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez versus Antonio Vargas on June 13.
Matchroom Boxing announced Thursday that a bout between IBF lightweight champion Elif Nur Turhan and Gabriela Tellez was added to the card, which will take place at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, and be streamed on DAZN.
Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KOs), The Ring’s No. 4-ranked fighter pound-for-pound, is moving up to 118 pounds to face Vargas (19-1-1, 11 KOs) for his WBA title in the main event.
Turhan (13-0, 8 KOs is The Ring’s No. 1-ranked lightweight. She last fought on Jan. 31, beating Taylah Gentzen by split decision in her first title defense.
The 31-year-old from Turkiye had won four consecutive fights by knockout before facing Gentzen. She won the title with a fifth-round stoppage of Beatriz Ferreira on Dec. 6.
Tellez (7-0, 3 KOs) will be making a big step up in competition to face Turhan. The 19-year-old from Vero Beach, Florida, beat Crystal Garcia Nova by second-round stoppage in her last fight, on Feb. 20.
The Rodriguez-Vargas undercard also includes a rematch between Arturo Cardenas (17-0-2, 9 KOs) and Jordan Martinez (16-0-1, 15 KOs) in a 10-round junior featherweight bout. They fought to a split draw on Feb. 28.
And a 10-round bout between undefeated lightweights Adrian Rodriguez (10-0, 6 KOs) and Elias Montoya Terraza (13-0, 8 KOs) is on the card.
