Ratiopharm Arena, Neu-Ulm - As part of a card promoted by AGON Sports and Sturm Boxing, Felix Sturm secured the WBA gold title in his fight against Benjamin Blindert on Saturday evening.

Sturm was far superior to Benjamin Blindert in every aspect. The former world champion didn't waste much time as he closed the show with three knockdowns before the referee intervened and stopped the fight.

Sturm at 46-years-old, has been trying to keep his name in the mix for the last few years at super middleweight.

After winning a twelve round decision in his rematch with Fedor Chudinov in 2016, Sturm was out of the ring for over four years.

The long layoff was due to a legal battle over Sturm's drug testing protocol in connection to the Chudinov rematch, where the Bosnian boxer claimed there was irregularities with the manner that his testing was handled by doping investigators who claimed he tested positive for an anabolic steroid in both drug testing samples.

Sturm would question the handling of his samples, based on being informed of the results after two months post-fight - rather than the customary two weeks.

The return on Saturday was Sturm's first fight since December 2023. He made it clear that he doesn't want to rush his career, but goal is still to win a world title.
