Former two-weight world champion Felix Sturm will bring the curtain down on his 25-year career on July 11.
The 47-year-old will face Granit Stein in a scheduled 10-round light heavyweight contest at Porsche-Arena in Stuttgart, Germany.
"I didn't want a quiet farewell," Sturm (45-6-3, 20 KOs) said in a press release. "After more than 35 years in boxing, I owe an incredible amount to this sport and wanted to say goodbye to my fans in a dignified setting.
"My last fight against Benjamin Blindert was a nice victory, but not the moment for me to just disappear from the ring. I wanted to consciously announce my last fight, prepare myself specifically for it and thank the people who have accompanied me for decades."
Sturm, who is a four-time middleweight champion and later claimed a version of the super middleweight title, had spoken to several possible opponents before landing on Stein (20-2-1, 11 KOs), who is 14 years his junior.
"There were many who talked a lot in public," he said. "But when it became concrete, hardly anyone was willing to really do this fight. Granit Stein and his team have agreed directly and clearly signaled that they want this fight. That's why this fight came about."
