Floyd Mayweather facing $7.3 million lien from IRS for unpaid taxes

Money problems continue to mount for Floyd Mayweather.
The IRS filed a $7.3 million lien against Mayweather last month in Las Vegas for unpaid taxes in 2018 and 2023, according to a Business Insider report published Thursday. Business Insider also reported that the notice shows the balance was unpaid as of March 26 and that a Mayweather attorney declined to comment.
Through the lien, the United States government can claim Mayweather's property until the bill is paid.
Mayweather has faced similar IRS lien issues in the past, including a $22.5 million lien for 2015 taxes and a $7.2 million lien for 2010 taxes.
The latest lien arrives amid ongoing reports that Mayweather is in financial trouble after earning an estimated $1.15 billion during his Hall of Fame career.
The 49-year-old Mayweather also sued former broadcast partner Showtime in February, alleging $340 million in misappropriated funds. Less than three weeks later, Mayweather announced that he’d return from a nine-year retirement to fight professionally once again.
Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) is supposed to face Manny Pacquiao in a rematch on September 19 at the Sphere in Las Vegas on Netflix.
Pacquiao said this week they've already received advance payments for their fight, days after Mayweather cast doubt on the event by labeling it an exhibition without a firm location.
Before taking on Pacquiao, Mayweather also has exhibitions scheduled against Mike Tyson in the Congo and kickboxer Mike Zambidis in Greece.
