Former IBF junior welterweight champion Liam Paro's comeback campaign kicks off in a homecoming bout June 25 when he fights Jonathan Navarro to headline a No Limit Boxing card in Far North Queensland, Australia.

The show also will feature two-time title challenger Liam Wilson taking on Ayrton Gimenez.

Paro (25-1, 15 KOs) will fight for the first time since losing to Richardson Hitchins via split decision in December. Paro, 29, notched the title in June by scoring one of the biggest upsets of the year when he beat Subriel Matias on home soil in Puerto Rico.

Navarro (18-1, 9 KOs), a 28-year-old Los Angeles native, also is coming off a December points loss to Jair Valtierra in Ireland.

“It’s a real homecoming for me. I’ve always wanted to fight back in Queensland, where I grew up, where I first dreamed of becoming a world champion,” said Paro.

“I never got the chance to do that when I held the belt, but that’s about to change. I’ve been chasing fights all over the world for years, but now with No Limit behind me, we’re bringing big-time boxing to Queensland.

“I plan on putting on a clinic for my people. Jonathan Navarro is tough. He’s 18-1 for a reason, but I belong at the top of this sport, and I’m going to prove that again.

“I want every single one of them — Teofimo Lopez, revenge against Hitchins, all the so-called names in this division. This division is wide open, and I’m ready to remind the world exactly who I am.”

Providing chief support is Brisbane’s Wilson (15-3, 8 KOs) against the Argentinian Gimenez (22-1, 4 KOs).

Wilson landed back-to-back wins against Youssef Dib after a seventh-round stoppage loss to Oscar Valdez for the WBO junior lightweight interim title in March 2024. Wilson came up short in his other title shot in a valiant effort against Emanuel Navarrete in February 2023, dropping the Mexican before he got stopped in the ninth round.

“Aryton Gimenez is no pushover,” said Wilson. “He’s dangerous, and he’s coming here to try and take away everything I’ve been working toward. But that’s not going to happen. I’ve made the mistakes, I’ve learned the hard lessons, and I’m more focused than ever. This is my path to a third world title shot — and I won’t let it slip.”
