LONDON — Rising junior-welterweight star Breyon Gorham made no mistakes on his UK debut as he stopped Eduardo Costa Do Nascimento in the fifth of their eight-rounder.
The 25-year-old (22-0, 17 KOs) had looked set to secure an even earlier finish when he dropped the Brazilian in the very first round.
But Nascimento dug deep despite heavy pressure from the Houston resident throughout. In the end, he was unable to prevent Gorham from forcing referee Reece Carter to jump in during the fifth.
The pair met in the final prelim bout before the main card kicked off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the returning Tyson Fury will face Arslanbek Makhmudov in the main event live on Netflix.
Gorham had followed suit after all but one of the prelims ended inside the distance in a scintillating start to the occasion.
Englishman Felix Cash punctuated his first fight since June 2024 by seeing off Liam O’Hare after 22 seconds of the second in their scheduled eight-rounder. Cash had dropped the Hereford man twice in the first before the end came swiftly after the restart.
His fellow Brits Mikie Tallon and Elliot Whale also got the business done early in their six-rounders. Joe Gallagher-trained Tallon (13-0, 3 KOs) saw off Leandro Jose Blanc in the very first round while welterweight southpaw Whale beat Tom Hill after 2:39 of the fourth.
In the card’s other knockout, Riyadh’s Sultan Almohammed improved to 3-0 when he stopped Hector Avila Lozano in the third of their four-threes bout.
There was a shock in the only fight to go the distance as Germany’s Simon Zachenhuber, who arrived boasting a 28-0 record, lost on points to Poland-born Brit Pawel August (18-0, 7 KOs) after six competitive rounds.
