Gervonta Davis has a reputation. Actually, he has several.

The Ring’s No. 1 ranked lightweight is viewed as one of the most popular fighters in the world. He’s also considered incredibly gifted. Ultimately, what he’s most known for is his power.

Time and time again, Davis finds a way to wreck his opponents. This past weekend in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, his power was expected to make the difference in his showdown against Lamont Roach. However, no matter how many lefts and rights he ate, Roach continued to move forward.

After becoming just the third fighter to go the full distance with Davis and just the second to go 12 with him, Roach is a bit puzzled by the assertions surrounding his power. The current WBA super featherweight champ didn’t totally downplay Davis’ ability to crack but he didn’t seem overwhelmingly impressed either.

“He got decent power,” Roach told a group of reporters. “He got decent power for sure.”

Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) no longer walks around with a perfect record but Roach isn’t satisfied with a split decision draw. What he wants is an immediate rematch. Those demands, however, might be shelved for the time being. Although their rivalry isn't over, Davis explained that Roach will have to wait for a sequel as he pursues other fights.

Regardless of it all, Roach is confident that he’ll run across Davis at some point. In the meantime, he doesn’t believe Davis will have any issues taking care of business against future opponents. While he wasn’t overly affected by anything that touched his chin this past Saturday, Roach won’t deny the type of dynamite Davis has in his fists. In fact, he has a feeling that the 30-year-old champion will continue to rack up the highlight-reel knockout wins.

“I see why he knocks people out,” continued Roach. “I can see why.”
