Taylor (26-1, 6 KOs) comfortably outpointed France’s Flora Pili over 10 rounds in front of a passionate, partisan crowd.

Victory saw The Ring's junior welterweight champion add the vacant WBC belt to her own WBO, WBA and IBF titles, meaning the 40-year-old from Bray retires as undisputed titleholder at 140 pounds.

She has previously enjoyed undisputed title reigns at lightweight and junior welterweight.

Hearn and Taylor’s long-running relationship famously got underway a decade ago when Taylor sent a Hearn a private message asking if he would be interested in working together.

Taylor was already an Irish hero after a phenomenal amateur career where she won five world titles and an Olympic gold medal. She has gone on to enjoy a similarly trophy-laden run in the paid ranks, though her impact goes beyond a collection of title belts and place in the record books.

Taylor’s popularity and dedication to growing the sport means that she leaves women’s boxing in a totally different place than where she found it.

In a busy post-fight dressing room, Hearn took time to look back at some of the memorable moments he and Taylor have enjoyed together.

“I go back to Madison Square Garden for Amanda Serrano 1 but the more I think about it - and when I saw that result the other week - your victory against Chantelle Cameron in that rematch. Your career was on the line that night, there was so much pressure on you and that was another one of your great performances. Taylor-Serrano 2 when we stuck it right up them, the third fight as well.”

Taylor’s popularity is partly down to her success but the Irish fans have really bought into her humble demeanor and confident but quiet character.

Hearn admits that, for a while, it looked like Taylor may not get the chance to wave goodbye to her fans at Croke Park but she refused to let the dream die and persuaded him to push ahead with the plan. The Irish people came out in force to thank her for her service and provided her - and Hearn - with a night they will never forget.

“If I can ever educate my children to live with the same values that you have, they're going to go on and live a great life,” Hearn told Taylor.

"To wake up in the morning with fire in your heart, walk with faith and passion in your will and work as hard as you can and refuse to be told that anything is impossible. That's what you've done your whole career.

“I was disappointed that we allowed people to make us go against what we truly believed and our gut feeling, which is that, “you can do this, you can sell it out” and it was you who came back and told us to go again. If you didn't do that, we would never have had tonight. That was the greatest moment I've ever had in my entire career.”
