Katie Taylor has always been a dominant fighter. And, for practically her entire career, no one was able to truly challenge her.

For years though, the boxing world wanted to see the multi-divisional champion step into the ring with Amanda Serrano. After a few heartfelt conclaves, the two managed to get it on in April 2022.

Their first showdown could've gone either way but it was Taylor (24-1, 6 KOs) who came out on top. Considering the closeness of their first matchup, and the sizable payday, the two decided to do it again. So, this past November, they jumped into the ring and engaged in another blood-and-guts war.

Fully convinced that she had done enough to win, Serrano raised her hands in the air when the final bell rang. But she was left disappointed yet again when Taylor was given the decision.

Being up 2-0, from Taylor’s point of view, should prove to everyone that she's the better fighter but Eddie Hearn, her long-time promoter, views the rest of the landscape around her as a bit barren. If he’s instructed, Hearn will do his best to make any showdown Taylor requests. However, if the decision were his alone, he would go right back to the same profitable well.

“Serrano three is the obvious choice,” Hearn told Chris Mannix during a recent interview. “They can fight ten times and every one of them would be a fight of the year contender.”

In the boxing world, Taylor’s age is a bit ancient. The 38-year-old though, hasn’t hinted at retiring anytime soon. A third matchup with either Serrano or Chantelle Cameron is on the table. But ultimately, it doesn’t matter. The way Hearn sees it, Taylor’s name is already set in stone as one of the best to ever lace ‘em up. So as a result, she doesn't need to continue.
