Junior featherweight contender Sebastian Hernandez scored a second-round stoppage win Saturday against Jose Lopez in Mexico to set up his next fight.
The relentless, volume-punching Hernandez (21-1, 19 KOs) connected with a series of unanswered shots that forced the bloodied Lopez (11-2-4, 5 KOs) to take a knee with 10 seconds left in the round. But after getting back up, the referee waved off the action.
The fight took place as part of a Zanfer Boxing show in Metepec.
Hernandez, rated No. 4 by The Ring at 122 pounds, was fighting for the first time since showing a solid account of himself during a decision loss against Junto Nakatani in December.
Next up for the 25-year-old "Logan" Hernandez is a showdown against Kyonosuke Kameda (16-5-2, 9 KOs), which is slated to take place September 23 in Osaka, Japan.
Kameda scored a unanimous decision against John Riel Casimero in October following back-to-back losses against David Picasso and Luis Nery last year.
