Bad luck has twice prevented Sam Goodman from being able to face The Ring and undisputed junior featherweight champion Naoya Inoue.

When a new opportunity came, out of the blue, to fight for a world title shot, Goodman had no issues jumping up to featherweight to face WBA featherweight titlist Nick Ball.

The two will collide at Kingdom Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia as part of the Riyadh Season show headlined by rising heavyweight force Moses Itauma against perennial contender Dillian Whyte.

While the heavyweight juggernauts figure to get much of the attention, this fight has the potential to be very interesting and absorbing clash of styles.

Ball (22-0-1, 13 knockouts) has just three more fights than Goodman (20-0, 8 KOs) but much more experience at world level. The defending champion will be competing in his fourth world title fight. Ball has also previously fought twice in Riyadh. Goodman will be taking part in his first world title fight and fight outside his native Australia.

Last fight: Goodman defeated Cesar Vaca by unanimous decision in their 10-round matchup on May 14 at Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Australia.

Odds: Goodman is a +330-betting underdog against Ball (-475), according to DraftKings.

How does Goodman win? The Australian needs to keep off the ropes and away from the corners, while picking his spots, using his lateral movement and footwork in an effort to befuddle the aggressive titleholder. Goodman needs to avoid trading with the naturally stronger Brit and fight his own fight.

What it means if he wins: A victory will firstly see Goodman achieve a dream he's had since he was 10. It would be life-changing and there would be no more financial worries, throwing open the doors to bigger and more lucrative fights down the road.

What they’re saying: "I've got my ways to win this fight, I don't give my opponents much rest as well, I make them think and I make 'em work the whole time as well. It's going to make for a good fight. We have a good game plan; I'm not going to go into details of how we're going to approach this fight and what way we're doing it but it's going to make for a good fight."
