Subriel Matias doesn't hate the judges but prefers they stay out his way.

His path to victory is typically an easy one to figure out, 22 wins, 22 knockouts. He hasn’t won them all (22-2), but when he does, makes sure to leave no doubt.

In most cases, apprehension sets in for his opponents but the 33-year-old doesn't expect Alberto Puello to fall in line.

Come July 12, the two will throw down on Ring Magazine's third card with another historic first at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York.

By and large, training camp has been going well. Actually, that would be an understatement. Matias feels as strong as ever. And with that, he envisions Puello crumbling. If he gets the job done, Matias will want more titles but wants to be pragmatic in who he targets next.

Getting top-tier opponents to jump in the ring with him has been difficult but getting a fight with Gary Antuanne Russell (18-1, 17 KOs) would be more on the easy side. Russell is a handful but also a prideful fighter and new world champion. So, if the WBA belt holder is in the business of collecting titles as well, Matias would love to make it happen.

"We can unify after I win," Matias told Tha Boxing Voice during a recent interview.

Somewhere in the Maryland area, Russell's victory lap has already been cut short after the WBA ordered him to box mandatory challenger Andy Hiraoka (24-0, 19 KOs) next, with a May 21 deadline already elapsed for both camps to agree terms and avoid a purse bid.

Russell's dominant 12-round decision win over Jose Valenzuela forced the 26-year-old southpaw to reluctantly relinquish control of his title in an unsuccessful first title defence and it appears as though Russell-Hiraoka will be next at some stage by September.

As such, Matias knows the 28-year-old's calendar isn't empty. With Puello still standing in his way, negotiations aren't close to taking place. But, if that day does come and their teams attempt to iron out a deal, Matias won't be a diva. He badly wants to get his hands on Russell, so much so that he's willing to give him the home-court advantage.

"I'm willing to go to Gary Antuanne's house."
