Mathieu beat the former title challenger by split decision Thursday at Capitole de Quebec in Quebec City, Canada. The 10-round super middleweight bout served as the co-feature of IBF super middleweight champion Osleys Iglesias versus Oliver Zaren on DAZN.

Judges Benoit Roussel and David Therien had it 98-92 for Mathieu, while Richard De Carufel had it 97-93 for Shishkin.

Mathieu (17-0, 11 KOs) controlled the fight early with his superior speed and athleticism. Shishkin wasn’t without his moments, but they weren’t as frequent or eye-catching. Mathieu’s counter right hand was a particularly useful weapon against the tricky Shishkin.

Shishkin (17-3, 11 KOs), of Stepnoe, Russia, started to have more success in the second half as Mathieu, 21, slowed down. Shishkin, 35, went on the front foot and pressed more, and he found much of his success going to the body.

Mathieu’s output started to slow down, and he became more apt to move. He found a second wind in the final round, landing clean counter shots as Shishkin pressed the action seeking a stoppage.

Mathieu, of Quebec City, entered ranked No. 8 by the WBA and 15th by the IBF, WBA and WBO at super middleweight. Shishkin’s lone defeats before facing Mathieu had come against Iglesias by eighth-round stoppage in September 2025 and a unanimous decision to William Scull in a bout for the then-vacant IBF super middleweight title in October 2024.

It was over seemingly as quickly as it started.

Imam Khataev scored a first-round knockout of Padraig McCrory. The stoppage was the Russian light heavyweight contender’s third in a row since he dropped a razor-thin split decision to David Morrell in July 2025.

Khataev (13-1, 12 KOs) came out on the offensive and buckled McCrory (20-3, 10 KOs) with a left hook before following up with a chopping straight right hand to the temple that sent him to the canvas less than a minute into the fight.

McCrory, 38, tried to get up but went back down to the canvas, and referee Junior Padulo reached a 10 count with 1:51 left.

Khataev, 32, entered the fight ranked No. 3 by the IBF, No. 5 by the WBC and No. 6 by the WBO.

The sharper and more consistent work of Dzmitry Asanau earned him a decisive decision victory over Luis Santana in a 10-round bout between unbeaten lightweights. Judges Richard Blouin and Sylvain LeBlanc scored it 98-91, while Pasquale Procopio had it 97-92 for Asanau (14-0, 7 KOs).

Asanau, 30, found his most success keeping Santana (16-1, 7 KOs) at the end of his jab and straight right hand. In the third round, he dropped him with a clean jab that landed on his chin.

Santana, 28, had his moments in a fight more competitive than the final scorecards suggested. His own straight right hand was his best weapon, and he routinely found a home for it in the first half.

Asanau, of Molodechno, Belarus, entered ranked No. 4 by the IBF and WBC.

Leila Beaudoin delivered a dominant showing in her decision victory over Brisa Alfonzo.

Beaudoin (16-2, 2 KOs) won 100-89 across the three judges’ scorecards in the 10-round junior lightweight bout. The win was Beaudoin’s third in a row since losing a unanimous decision to unified 130-pound champion Alycia Baumgardner on December 19.

The difference in class was evident from the opening bell. Beaudoin, 30, landed clean shots to the head and body against the overmatched 26-year-old Argentinian. Beaudoin dropped Alfonzo with a body shot late in the sixth round, but the knockdown was more due to her exhaustion than being hurt.

Alfonzo (9-2-2, 1 KO) was fighting outside of Argentina for the first time.
