Shane Mosley did his best to take Floyd Mayweather's head off in 2010, but even with that level of animosity he knows how terrific he was.

Nowadays, Mayweather (50-0, 27 KOs) prefers to be called TBE — The Best Ever. Mosley isn’t entirely sure he agrees with that, but finding someone in history who could match his skills is a difficult task.

Terence Crawford has always floated around the topic of conversation.

It wasn’t until his win over Canelo Alvarez this past weekend that Mosley was willing to say that Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) isn’t simply on Mayweather’s level — he’s a notch above it.

“I think Crawford is better,” Mosley told Fight Hub TV. “I would say Crawford is a better all-around fighter.”

Before Crawford showed up at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas with some newfound muscle, Mosley believed he couldn't win. He’s two months shy of three full years older than Alvarez, and for the last few years, has fought two to three weight divisions below him.

None of that mattered as he won a close but clear decision.

Mayweather also bagged a win over Alvarez 12 years ago. With Crawford becoming a three-division undisputed champion, pundits and fans are playing fantasy matchmaker.

So who would win? Mayweather, when he was an active fighter, loved to remind people of his work, often saying that 50 have tried and 50 have failed. According to Mosley, if Crawford were Mayweather’s 51st opponent, he would’ve got the job done.

“Mayweather is really good. You can’t knock him, but I think Crawford would have had the edge because of his long arms and he’s bigger,” Mosley said. “It would’ve been hard for Mayweather to counter.”
