The excuses are getting annoying, repetitive and downright unbelievable.

Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington wants to jump into the ring with a world champion, but he doesn’t believe the feeling is mutual. For some of the featherweight division's beltholders, fighting Carrington (16-0, 9 KOs) would only make sense if he got his hands on a world title first, something Angelo Leo recently said.

For the 28-year-old Carrington, however, that’s an impossible request.

“These guys all keep saying the same thing, but how am I supposed to get a belt first if none of the champions are willing to fight me?” Carrington said to The Ring during a Zoom interview. “It doesn’t make any sense.”

Carrington’s championship wishes were placated in his latest trip to the ring. The highly ranked contender issued a one-sided beatdown to Mateus Heita on July 26 in New York to win the interim WBC title via lopsided decision.

Wrapping that secondary championship around his waist was a wonderful feeling, but it hasn’t caught the attention of the current beltholders. Although he’s open to fighting anyone willing to give him a chance, Stephen Fulton, the division's WBC champion, might be his quickest route to a title.

Unfortunately for Carrington, though, he’s busy. Fulton (23-1, 8 KOs) is placing his reign on ice as he moves up in weight to take on O’Shaquie Foster on October 25 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Fulton hasn't made it clear if he’ll move back down in weight immediately after, something that also frustrates Carrington. Nothing sits right with him, and nothing ever will until he gets a shot on the big stage.

“I’m tired of the games,” Carrington said. “I’m tired of being dismissed, ignored, and looked over. I just want a chance.”
