Jack Catterall and Harlem Eubank will clash in an all-British welterweight clash at Manchester's AO Arena on July 5, it's been confirmed.
The Ring reported earlier this week that the two fighters were finalising a deal for a summer duel, and now things are official.
Catterall (30-2, 13 KOs) will fight at 147 pounds for the first time in his career, while Eubank (21-0, 9 KOs) will face his toughest opposition yet in the Chorley man.
The announcement comes off the back of Eubank's cousin Chris Eubank Jr's historic victory over Conor Benn in the main event of The Ring's first ever card at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month.
Catterall has been on the hunt for a big name for his next fight after coming unstuck in February against Arnold Barboza, losing by split decision at the Co-Op Live Arena.
And now he's got that big name in the form of Harlem, who was last in action on Channel 5 in March, stopping Tyrone McKenna in the 10th round of a thrilling performance.
The pair sealed the deal with a face-off in the middle of the ring at the Copper Box on the undercard of Johnny Fisher's heavyweight rematch with Dave Allen.
Catterall said: “This is another huge domestic fight that I can really sink my teeth into. After the disappointment of my last fight, I’m grateful to Frank Smith and Eddie Hearn for giving me the opportunity to headline again in Manchester.
“I’m eager to put on a big performance and make a statement in my first fight up at Welterweight. The Eubank name is hot at the moment but I’m ready to put the fire out in style.”
“This is a fight that’s been on my radar for a long time, and I’m delighted it’s finally happening,” said Eubank. “Jack is a world-class fighter and, in my view — and many others’ — a former undisputed champion.
“These are the elite-level matchups I’ve been calling for, and make no mistake, I’m ready. They say timing is everything in boxing, and this summer clash couldn’t have come at a better moment in my career.” \
