Queensberry Promotions have announced the signing of British and Commonwealth super lightweight champion, Jack Rafferty.

Last October, Rafferty, 24-0 (15KOs), wore down and stopped Queensberry’s Henry Turner in nine exciting rounds to win the British title. Beating the talented, multi-time amateur champion has earned the 29 year-old ‘Demolition Man’ a deal of his own.

He will make his promotional debut - and maiden title defence - against Reece MacMillan, 17-1 (2 KOs), on the undercard of Dereck Chisora’s heavyweight fight with Otto Wallin which takes place at Manchester’s Co-Op Live Arena on February 8th.

After battling away on the small hall scene for years, Shaw’s Rafferty has enjoyed a successful twelve months.

Last December he blew away the experienced Lee Appleyard inside a round to win the Commonwealth title and followed that up by headlining a Conlan Boxing show on DAZN, dominating Indias’s Sabari Jaishankar in three rounds.

Stopping Turner in such dramatic fashion to win the British title changed the course of his career, however.

With Jack Catterall, Dalton Smith and Adam Azim all pursuing various paths towards world title belts at 140lbs, Rafferty is ideally positioned to establish himself as the man to beat at domestic level but he also holds a WBC ranking belt and has a number of high profile targets to aim at.
