Despite sporting a massive size advantage, cruiserweight Jake Paul has summoned some of the top smaller fighters in the world as he prepares to take on Gervonta Davis on November 14.
Despite sporting a massive size advantage, cruiserweight Jake Paul has summoned some of the best smaller fighters in the world to help him prepare for his fight with Gervonta Davis on November 14.
“We have world champions. Ray Ford from the 130-pound weight class. We’ve got Montana Love, and Shakur Stevenson is coming,” Paul told TMZ.
“So, just sparring against guys on [Davis’] level and people who have been doing this their whole entire lives, but we’re really focusing on speed and not as much on power. I’m not doing as much weight lifting, and all of that stuff. I’m actually trying to lose some muscle so that I’ll have less weight, and my punches are coming off faster.”
Stevenson chimed in on helping Paul prepare for a rival that he anticipates fighting one day.
“Fire – I get a chance to pick a great business mind and help give some game in the process. I’m down,” Stevenson said on social media.
The rules for the encounter between Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) are as follows: 195 pounds maximum weight; 10, three-minute rounds; 12-ounce gloves. And despite it not being sanctioned as a professional fight, there will be three judges ringside to announce a winner once the action concludes at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Netflix.
"I'm a fierce competitor. I am ready to shock the world, and even shock myself, to show myself what I am capable of,” said Paul.
