Amateur standout Yuga Fujiki will be turning professional, it was announced at a press conference on Friday.
Fujiki, who will box out of the Ohashi Promotions stable, will have his pro test on April 13 before his much anticipated debut as a junior lightweight on June 10.
The 18-year-old's switch to the professional ranks comes after winning six national titles, an Asian Youth gold medal and the top prize at the World U19 championships, amassing a perfect 49-0 record, with 33 knockouts en route.
"I'm excited to think it's the start," Fujiki said. "I want to become a world champion and become like Naoya Inoue, whom I admire."
Ohashi, who has grown an outstanding stable headed up by the aforementioned Ring undisputed junior featherweight king, Inoue, feels he has captured another future superstar.
"[Fujiki] is the treasure of Japan," said Ohashi. "I will definitely make him a world champion."
