Jarrell Miller scored a split decision win against Kingsley Ibeh on Saturday, but the major story surrounding the sloppy slugfest was Miller getting his toupée knocked out in the second round.
The stunning and hilarious scene took the internet by storm, as Miller’s toupée flopped atop his head in the closing seconds of the stanza after absorbing Ibeh’s upward punches. Once Miller returned to his corner, he realized his hair was hanging by a strand and he ripped it off and threw it into the stands.
Soon after, the wig found a ringside seat next to an empty chair beside WBO heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley. Former featherweight titleholder Skye Nicolson was also nearby and couldn't resist the tempting photo-op.
“This is life. When you get old, s*** happens,” the self-deprecating Miller told The Ring while his partner held an icepack on his balded head.
“It was a tough night. I don't know what's tougher – Ibeh or this s***. All I can say is, in life, try to get your woman when you have some hair. You have to keep laughing, keep smiling, and keep having fun.”
The besmirched Brooklyn native Miller said he lost his hair due to mistakenly using an unknown shampoo product at his mother's house, two days before his showcase slot on The Ring 6 card at Madison Square Garden in New York.
As for the 10-round fight, Miller eventually controlled the action after the faux pas, as Ibeh’s endurance faded faster than Miller’s hairline.
Miller (27-1-2, 22 KOs) was fighting for the first time in 15 months after seeing his 2025 campaign get completely shaved due to a series of fight cancellations.
“I definitely had ring rust. You can see that I was falling over with the jab and I was slipping a little bit,” said Miller. “The more active I am, the better. Kingsley fought twice last year, I didn't.
“I had a good performance against Andy Ruiz Jr., [a majority draw in August 2024] that I thought I won. [I had] a rough performance against a guy who was active in Ibeh. I dug deep, threw punches, and got the win.”
“Big Baby” Miller also posed a hairy idea to spank Wardley in a fight, as if the Brit were an eligible bachelor who caught the garter, er, toupée. The proposal is unlikely to move forward, however, and one that won’t be splitting hairs.
“Fabio said he wanted to fight in America. He might think tonight is an ugly night, but this is boxing. He's had ugly nights before. Let's make it happen,” said Miller.
“It feels good to be back. I know what I need to improve on. I'm going to get my ass to Thailand for two months and get back into better shape … I want to heal, try to grow a little bit of hair back and get back in the ring.”
